Here are some little known facts about me (Matthew Dean Shaffer) and the "band" Buzzhead Republic:

*One day (soon) I'll be famous! Just wait. You'll see.

*My friends all call me Rooster. It is a nickname I can't get rid of, so I don't.

*I have a band name because some day I want to be able to "hire" a band, and by "hire" I mean "for free". Unless I get a record deal. Then they can hire a band for me.

*I have composed multiple soundtracks for a theater group called Theatre 'd Art.

*Most of the tracks from my album, "Reaver Doves", and "Zerthscape Vol. I-III" were composed for Nate Cornick, author of the Zerth comic, even though there is no film for the music to be put to yet. He just wrote the scripts around the music.

*I tried to sell my car for charity, but no one would buy it. So I gave it to a friend who needed a car, but apparently, not that badly. He gave it back. Now I am trying to trade it for a drumset. (update: I was unable to trade it, or even sell it to a junk yard, so I donated it to Goodwill.) My new car (an '06 Saturn) got totaled when I hit a deer. Insurance paid it off, but now I am carless. Oh well. Such is life.).

*I am in the middle of writing a novel. (update: I may never finish this thing!)

*I am in the middle of producing my 7th full length album. I think that number might be higher now. (update: I finished it about six months ago. It became a double album. But I didn't think (and neither did my friends) that I would be able to get a record label to pick up a double album, so I cut it down to a 14 track album. I will probably release the rest as b-sides.)

*I am in the middle of remastering and remixing my older albums.

*I have produced remixes for a band called No Longer Micah.

*I currently have 271 songs, give or take a few, attributed to my name. They come in the form of 7 LPs, 5 EPs, 8 singles, and 4 soundtracks. There are several other releases not included because they are out of print and involve other bands. Oh, and there are 3 other songs under my name, Matthew Shaffer, floating around that I recorded about 13 years ago. All of my albums have a street name associated with them, i.e. 1st Street through 16th Street. Singles are listed under the album street name with a letter after it, i.e. 6th Street A. Remixed albums and singles have the same street name but with DE (short for deluxe edition) after it, i.e. 6th Street B(DE).

*I have worked in a studio to produce a remix for Nine Inch Nails, and some guy on Peter Gabriel's record label.

*I am almost a speed reader and I have near photographic memory.

*I drink excessive amounts of coffee, but I'm cutting back. I enjoy the rare cigar, but mostly when I'm writing. I sip tea once in awhile. I light a lot of candles at night, and like low or yellow tinted lighting. I have a massive record collection that covers all genres and spans over a hundred years. I have a small collection of cyberpunk literature.
